NEW ATEX CERTIFIED INDUSTRIAL VACUUM CLEANERS

ATEX certified industrial vacuum cleaners

The ATEX directive, acronym of Atmosphère Explosibles, is the European law applied on the machineries used in high explosion risk areas.

This legislation establishes the safety measures needed in working areas where there are potentially explosive atmospheres, such as:

  • gas particles

  • steams

  • mists

  • dusts

  • inflammable liquids

This law provides that productors, importers and distributors of electronic tools and PPE (personal protection equipment), for potentially explosive atmospheres areas, must apply certain procedures and safety requirements necessary to guarantee the conformity of the products to the ATEX regulation.

Furthermore, the ATEX, provides a list of those activities that can be done inside dangerous areas and it establishes the methods for managing the explosion risks.

Speaking about professional industrial vacuum cleaners, the ATEX directive provides some specific laws that must be followed.

The vacuum cleaners used in potentially explosive areas (for example food production or chemical areas) are designed following some specific technical and safety requirements.

ATEX vacuum cleaners are built to ensure maximum operational safety

In the field of industrial vacuum cleaners, the ATEX Directive imposes some specific regulations to be respected.

Vacuum cleaners intended for use in environments with potentially explosive substances (for example, in food or chemical production areas) must be manufactured on the basis of certain technical and safety requirements.

The Atex directive requires vacuum cleaners to be certified for use in areas at risk of explosion. In particular, they must be equipped with anti-explosion filters and an earthing system that prevents the formation of sparks during machine operation.

Furthermore, it is important that vacuum cleaners also comply with safety standards relating to the containment of sucked up dust and the prevention of overheating. Atex vacuum cleaners meet all these requirements, ensuring effective removal of dust and combustible materials in environments such as:

  • chemical industries

  • refineries

  • foundries

Atex vacuum cleaners minimize the risk of explosions, ensuring a safer working environment for operators

The choice of an ATEX vacuum cleaner depends on the specific needs of the application for which it is intended, including the type of material that must be removed and the environment in which it is to be used.

Typically, ATEX vacuum cleaners are chosen when working with combustible or explosive materials such as dusts, gases and vapors, and when operating in environments with high levels of humidity, corrosive air and dust.

The level of ATEX certification required according to the work area should also be considered, which can be:

  • Zone 0 (gas) or Zone 20 (dust): for long-term work where an explosive atmosphere is continuously present

  • Zone 1 (gas) or Zone 21 (dust): for work areas where the creation of an explosive atmosphere consisting of air and flammable substances is probable

  • Zone 2 (gas) or Zone 22 (dust): where the formation of an explosive atmosphere occurs only for short periods.

Choosing a reliable and suitable ATEX vacuum cleaner can play a critical role in ensuring the safety of personnel and the productivity of industrial activities.

BIEMMEDUE introduces in its range a line of Atex industrial vacuum cleaners, redesigned to meet all the requirements required by the legislation.
